    PLEASE NOTE:

The Study in Europe Fair Albania will be organised back-to-back with two other Study in Europe events:

    • EU policy event: 9 October 2025

This event will provide a platform to present and discuss key EU higher education policy initiatives and achievements in the field of quality assurance (QA) and recognition. It aims to raise awareness of ongoing policy developments, promote mutual learning, and support alignment with the European Education Area. Focusing on the technical dimensions of QA and recognition, the event will bring together policymakers and practitioners—particularly from EU candidate countries—for constructive dialogue. More information will be available shortly.

    • Contact building seminar: 10 October 2025

This event aims at fostering new institutional partnerships between European higher education institutions (HEIs) and their counterparts in the Western Balkans, with a particular emphasis on student and staff mobility. The seminar supports international collaboration under Erasmus+ actions such as International Credit Mobility (ICM), Erasmus Mundus (EM), and Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE). More information will be available shortly.

According to an estimation in 2024, the population of Albania amounts to 3,107,100. Approximately 18% of the population is below the age of 15, a figure that is promising with regard to potential trends in university enrolment. According to UNESCO statistics (September 2022), about 130 000 pursued higher education, of which close to 11% (14 120) are studying abroad.

National governmental statistics indicate that the largest number of graduates in higher education for the last four years were studying in the field of Business, Administration and Law, followed by Health and welfare, although the number of graduates in this field is approximately half of those of the first. Students must have passed the State Matura exam and hold a secondary education completion certificate for admission to higher education in Albania. In addition, several HEIs in Albania conduct admission exams/entrance exams for specific areas of study.

Of the 40 higher education institutions in Albania, 15 are public and 25 private. They operate in the capital city, Tirana, as well as in the main regions. Higher education institutions in Albania provide both undergraduate and postgraduate study programmes. The Albanian higher education system follows the Bologna architecture with a three-cycle higher education system consisting of Bachelor, Master's and Doctoral studies. There are also programmes that last for one to three years leading to a Specialization Certificate (Deshmi Specializimi).

Italy is the most popular study abroad destination, followed by Germany, Greece, the United States of America, Turkey and France.
We invite you to carefully read the Terms & Conditions of the event available here.
